Bayer 04 Leverkusen will be without the services of Leon Bailey for the next three Bundesliga fixtures.
The German Football Association (DFB) announced their decision on Monday afternoon. The 22-year-old was also handed a €20,000 fine.
This news comes after Bailey was shown a red card for violent conduct in Saturday’s 2-0 loss at FC Köln.
Bailey will now miss the home game against Hertha Berlin on Wednesday (18 December), Bayer’s final game before the winter break at Mainz 05 on Saturday 21 December, and the opening game in the second half of the season at SC Paderborn on Sunday 19 January 2020.
The Jamaican international has made eight Bundesliga appearances (5 starts) so far this campaign, scoring three goals and recording one assist for Peter Bosz’s side. Bailey also made two starts in the UEFA Champions League group stage where Bayer Leverkusen finished third in their group, behind Paris Saint-Germain and Atlerico Madrid.
Bayer Leverkusen have accepted the charges.
