Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of exiting the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League at the group stage following a 3-1 defeat at Barcelona on Wednesday.
The German side were totally outplayed by the Spanish giants and fell behind to a Luis Suarez goal just before he half hour mark as Dortmund’s defence fell apart.
Lionel Messi doubled Barcelona’s lead quickly after the first and the game was essentially over before half-time.
This is a Borussia Dortmund side that shipped four at Bayern Munich last weekend and three at home to the Bundesliga’s whipping boys, Paderborn, on Friday night.
Barcelona didn’t even need to be at their best to pick up all three points and added a third of their own midway through the second half through Antoine Griezmann.
A fine solo effort Jadon Sancho made the scoreline closer than the game actually was.
Defeat sees Borussia Dortmund drop to third in the group as Internazionale were 3-1 winners away to Slavia Prague. The Italian side host Barcelona in the final group game, but the visitors have already wrapped up Group F. Dortmund will be hoping Inter slip up in their final group game, whilst also beating Slavia Prague themselves on Tuesday 10 December.
