Schalke 04 have announced the signing of winger Benito Raman from fellow Bundesliga side Fortuna Düsseldorf
The 24-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the Veltins Arena.
Raman was a big part of the Düsseldorf side that 10th and 16 points clear of the relegation zone last season. The Belgian contributed 10 goals and four assists in his 30 Bundesliga appearances (11 starts) from the right wing.
Schalke head coach David Wagner was pleased with the capture of Raman, telling the club’s official website:
“We’re very happy that Benito has decided to join Schalke,. He showed with his 10 goals and four assists last season that he can perform at the top level.”
The Royal Blues already have a number of options that can be use down the wings, including Breel Embolo, Alessandro Schöpf and Rabbi Matondo.
As part of the deal, 21-year-old striker Bernard Tekpetey has joined Fortuna on loan for the 2019-20 campaign.
Benito Raman becomes Schalke’s third summer signing, following the acquisition of right-back Jonjoe Kenny on loan from Everton and Turkish international Ozan Kabak from VfB Stuttgart.
