Borussia Monchengladbach have signed experienced goalkeeper Max Grün from 2. Bundesliga side SV Darmstadt 98.
The 32-year-old has signed a one-year deal at Borussia Park.
Grün won’t compete with Yann Sommer for the number 1 role at Die Fohlen next season but will be looking to play a backup role. He joined Bayern Munich as a 15-year-old but never made a single appearance for the first team.
The goalkeeper has made 26 Bundesliga appearances for Greuther Fürth and VfL Wolfsburg combined and a further 64 matches in the second tier of German football. He was the backup for Darmstadt in the 2. Bundesliga this past season.
Whilst it is a low-key signing for Borussia Monchengladbach, Grün will be only the third goalkeeper on their books, after Sommer and Tobias Sippel. He is the club’s first signing since the end of the season.
Dieter Hecking’s side qualified for next season’s UEFA Europa League having finished fifth in the Bundesliga.
