Schalke 04 have completed the loan signing of centre-back Matija Nastasić for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.
The Serbian defender joins on loan from English Premier League champions Manchester City where his sole appearance this season came in the Community Shield back in August.
Matija Nastasić was a solid performer under Roberto Mancini during the 2012-13 season but injuries and a change of manager have seen his game time reduced dramatically since.
The 22-year old found himself behind Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala, Martín Demichelis and Dedryck Boyata this season.
Nastasić now has a new lease of life in Germany where he can play for high-flying Schalke 04 who currently stand in fifth position in the Bundesliga table, 1 point behind third place Bayer 04 Leverkusen during the winter break.
The two clubs have agreed a deal that could see Nastasić become a permanent player at the Veltins Arena over the summer. The defender stands at 1.87m (6’2″).
