1899 Hoffenheim have splashed the cash again, this time signing Polish international midfielder Eugen Polanski from 1. FSV Mainz 05.
The 25-year old who participated in Euro 2012 for his national side has signed a deal that will keep him with Hoffenheim until 2015.
Eugen Polanski came through the youth setup at Borussia Mönchengladbach before breaking into the first team during the 2004/05 season. The Polish-born midfielder had a brief stint with FC Getafe in the Spanish La Liga before returning to the Bundesliga with Mainz 05 in 2009/10.
He scored 4 goals in 87 appearances for Mainz 05 in the German top flight before his January move to the side who will start the second half of the season in the relegation playoff position.
Hoffenheim sporting director Andreas Müller noted that Polanski brings experience with him to the Rhein-Neckar Arena:
“Eugen Polanski has plenty of Bundesliga experience and tactically-speaking is well schooled. He brings that extra bit of stability that we undoubtedly need to avoid relegation.”
