FC Augsburg have appointed former German international Stefan Reuter as their new sporting director.
Stefan Reuter succeeds Jürgen Rollmann who lasted less than three months in the position.
The former right back has signed a contract until June 2015.
Augsburg president Walther Seinsch was pleased with the appointment:
“We’re delighted to have been able to bring an expert of the calibre of Stefan Reuter on board at FC Augsburg. He agreed to take on the job at short notice, because he recognises the club’s potential.”
Reuter had this to say:
“I’m looking forward to this new challenge at FC Augsburg and I’m confident we can attain our set targets.”
As a player, Stefan Reuter had spells with 1. FC Nürnberg, Bayern Munich, Juventus and 12 years with Borussia Dortmund, winning the Bundesliga 5 times and a player and the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund in 1997. He was capped 69 times for Germany, winning Euro 96.
Stefen Reuter has experience as sporting director, serving the role for TSV 1860 Munich between January 2006 and February 2009.
