VfL Wolfsburg have parted ways with defender Arne Friedrich who’s contract was due to expire in 2013.
“Arne Friedrich came to us and asked us to terminate his contract. We regret his decision, but wish him all the best for the future.” manager Felix Magath commented.
Friedrich joined Wolfsburg last summer and missed the first half of the season following an operation on a slipped disc suffered in August 2010. He went on to make 15 appearances for Die Wölfe.
His pain resurfaced this summer and prevented Friedrich from training with the first team at all. Friedrich has played 82 times for the German national team.
