Franck Ribéry sets Bundesliga record

Bayern Munich’s 3-2 victory over Hertha Berlin on Saturday maintained their lead at the top of the 2013-14 German Bundesliga table.

Pep Guardiola’s side have now won 8 of their first 10 league matches this season, drawing the other two. They are also 3/3 in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich were beaten just once in the league on their way to securing an historic treble last season. That one and only loss came in week 9 last season; a 2-1 home loss to Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

French forward Franck Ribéry who has been in outstanding form once again this season was absent during that loss last season.

By missing that game and playing in the majority of Bayern Munich’s games before and after, Franck Ribéry has set a Bundesliga lead by going 39 games without losing.

Franck Ribéry last tasted defeat in the Bundesliga on 11 April 2012 – 0-1 at Borussia Dortmund which effectively wrapped up the 2011-12 title for BVB.

The Bayern Munich star has played in 39 league matches since for Bayern Munich, winning 34 of those.

Ribéry had previously shared the record with Holger Hieronymus who went 38 games undefeated with Hamburger SV between 1981-83.
